It might not seem like much but in the 30 s a dollar was a lot of money. Perhaps they actually believe they sound better. They reason vinly is more expensive than cd is for a number of reasons. I remember even seeing a market for jackets only being valuable enough for resale.

Why is new vinyl now so expensive regardless of the undoubted resurgence of vinyl in the past 5 or so years it s still very much a niche market. Niche markets attract higher prices due to their very nature. So every 4th or 5th record i buy is poorly pressed or cut too hot. Listening to cd s again and its pleasurable unlike being pissed at records all the time.

They would operate 24 hours a day if vinyl press operators a dying breed until just recently weren t so hard to find. So my vinyl purchasing has gone down from 10 month to almost zero month over the last 2 years due to the drastic price increases. 4 years of struggling with vinyl has left a bad taste in my mouth. Expensive records used to be about real scarcity.

I think that there are a couple of reasons why vinyl is so expensive today. Firstly due to rampant piracy for the last 20 years from cd burners and downloading the cost of cds has not risen in line.

But my understanding is that overall costs have not increased.
