Use your measuring tape and measure the vertical height distance of the window opening from the where the rod will be to an inch or so above floor level. Then use a hacksaw or tin snips to cut the head rail along the line. To cut blinds start by marking a straight line on the head rail where you want to cut it using a pencil. Make a cutting line for the measurement by using a pencil and straight edge.

Once you ve cut the head rail secure the ends of the blind slats with a rubber band and cover the ends with masking tape so they don t splinter or chip. Step 3 mark and cut blinds. Make sure that the masking tape covers the entire area you are cutting. Cut along the new edge line of the first slat using 10 inch heavy duty shears or tin snips.

Lay them on the saw and line up the blade where you need to cut. Cut in one motion from start to finish with one cut. Using a clamp or rubber bands secure the slats together into position.
